Celebrate Bandera 2008 took place over Labor Day weekend. It is an annual festival held in downtown Bandera to honor Bandera's cowboy and western heritage. As the website states, "The whole town was alive with cowboys and dudes and little buckaroos jostling for position to see Dr. E.T. Bushrod's Medicine Show, the San Antonio Living History Association, the Concho Cowboys, the famous Brazos Bottom Cowographers, a chance to ride in a stagecoach, The Texas Longhorn Riders and the Buffalo Soldier’s Camp. Folks will be scramblin’ to watch the Fancy Dancers and ceremonial dances of the Celebrate Bandera Circle of Life intertribal Pow Wow."
We were in town on Saturday morning for the opening ceremony and parade, part of which is a cattle drive down Main Street--a cattle drive with real longhorns. The photos below were taken on Main Street and during the parade.
Just what everyman needs!
Hanging around waiting for the parade.
Every town has a dance hall or two.
Let's get the show on the road!
