Do you shop at your nearest grocery store? If the answer is 'no' then welcome to the club! In a survey of 24,000 shoppers, almost half of them had a major gripe about their local grocery store—bothersome enough to make them travel further from their home for better prices, service, or selection. The survey, conducted byConsumer Reports, caused the magazine to rank 54 leading grocery store chains, including the likes of Walmart, Pathmark, Wegman's, and Trader Joe's. Results below:
The winners: Wegmans, Trader Joe's, Publix, and Fairway

According to this ABC article, Walmart Supercenter, Pathmark (Northeast), and Pick 'n Save (Wisconsin) ranked the worst for customer service. Walmart also earned the next-to-worst overall rating (it ranked right above Pathmark) for service and perishables. Meanwhile, the four best supermarkets (Wegmans, Trader Joe's, Publix and Fareway Stores) all received high marks for service and cleanliness, although Wegmans was rated as pricey. Whole Foods and Jewel-Osco were rated as the most expensive (i.e. the worst price value) of all the stores surveyed.
