Return to Ohio

Left Wednesday morning, October 19, to make our trek to Ohio for the infamous Punkin' Fair and to see my siblings and their offspring, but also to attend the Dance Party at Valley Dale featuring those musicians we loved so much in the '60's.

We drove south to West Virginia and came west on I-68 (Katie wanted to go to a shop in Belpre).  That was the last time we saw sunshine until we were drive back on Saturday.

Wednesday and Thursday in Ohio were lousy, weatherwise, so we spent most of our time visiting with Tom and Anne.  It's always fun to go to Anne's house during the Pumkin fair.  At some point, both of her children and all of her grandchildren will be in the house together.  It's chaos.  I love it.

We made it down to the festival on Friday and shot some photos of the pumpkin and Lindsey's pumpkin pie, looked at the quilts, ate fish at Shifty's, bought t-shirts at Scharf's, and bought a bunch of candy at Wittich's. We did it all in less than 3 hours.

Considering how successful the aliens have been taking over the souls of the pumpkins and fashioning human faces once the possession is complete, they now plan to fashion torsos and limbs out of the pumpkins under the table.  Forget the zombies; look out for the Pumpkin Monsters.
We went to Valley Dale on Friday for Dance Party 2011.  Loved the Dantes and the Fifth Order during their heydays in the 60's.  I had heard the Dantes reunion concert from 2008 and the music was good.  They didn't disappoint.  We heard 3 hours of great music.

When my house was being built, they did a lousy job of dry walling the  stairwell to the basement.  To hide the imperfections, I buy posters at the concerts I attend, you know, Cream, Hot Tuna, Bruce, Richard Thompson, Rolling Stones, CSNY, etc., and I frame them and hang them over the imperfections.  Bought a nice 11x17 poster just like the above ticket to add to the mix.  Only $3.

Rod & Jeanne
Judy & Dale
Hadn't seen Judy since 1970 or 1971.  She was living  on the east side in the Whitehall area (or was that Reynoldsburg?).  At some point she met and married Dale -- anyone that can keep up with her must be a saint.

And we all had a real good time
